    Editor’s Note
    The present volume of The Chittagong University Journal of Social Sciences is being published with a collection of articles primarily focusing on the field of social sciences. Promoting excellence in the pursuit of knowledge is one of the principal responsibilities of university teachers. The publication of research articles in academic journals is among the most effective means of advancing scholarship. This volume of the journal contains the thoughts and research findings of several scholars.

    We are making every possible effort to improve the quality of the journal, and there is a plan to make this journal digitally accessible in the future.

    We express our sincere gratitude to the former Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Md. Alauddin Majumder since the work on this volume began during his tenure with a completion of a significant portion of the journal in that period. We also thank the researchers and authors for their hard work in preparing their articles for publication. We gratefully acknowledge the members of the editorial board, who contributed their time and effort to help publish this journal. In addition, the reviewers and scrutinizers deserve special thanks, as they painstakingly refined the articles. We also extend our thanks to the concerned staff involved in this publication.

    We whole heartedly welcome any suggestions for improving the quality of our journal. We believe that the regular publication of this journal will contribute to the intellectual and scholarly development of the researchers and will be beneficial to the readers as well.

    Covering a wide range of fields in social sciences, this volume presents 15 well-written research articles. Authored by learned faculty members and researchers from diverse background, these articles are expected to make a significant contribution to expanding the horizon of knowledge in the respective fields.

    We had a plan to fully digitize the journal starting from this volume for better circulation of our research. But we were unable to attain this goal due to several compelling reasons. However, we remain committed to this goal and will continue our efforts to implement the plan as soon as possible.

    We extend our deep gratitude to Professor Siraj Ud Doullah, former dean of this faculty, for his precious contributions, having accomplished the majority of tasks related to the publication of this volume. We sincerely thank to the authors for their time and effort in making their works publishable. We acknowledge our indebtedness to the honorable members of the editorial board for their tireless efforts in bringing the volume to publication. The reviewers also deserve very special thanks for their comprehensive evaluations, which were instrumental in maintaining the quality of the journal. Finally, we express our appreciation to the staff members who contributed in various ways to the successful publication of this volume. Their dedication is truly commendable.

    We highly appreciate comments and suggestions from the readers of this volume for future improvement. Let us combine our efforts to broaden our understanding and knowledge in the field of social sciences. Thanks.

    The Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Chittagong has been bringing out the ‘The Chittagong University Journal of Social Sciences’ for quite a long time now. The present issue of the journal contains a good number of well-researched papers contributed by leaned faculty members and other researchers. Multidimensional aspects of social sciences have been probed by the authors in their works. This volume subsumes eighteen articles on various fields of social sciences making it a valuable one. These articles are expected to draw attention from array of scholars interested in broad spectrum of socio-politico, economic, administrative and legal issues. For better dissemination of the papers, alongside the printing version, we are planning to go online shortly. It will definitely augment the number of readership and the interested researchers will be benefited from the literature, research works and results available in the journal. Hopefully, the culture of in-depth research will get new impetus as a result. It is my pleasure to express my special thanks and gratitude to the honorable members of the editorial board and the reviewers of the Journal for their precious time and evaluation. The authors, too, deserve special thanks for their efforts. I also offer my special thanks to all concerned involved in publishing the journal. Concerted efforts were made to make it infallible. If, however, any inconsistencies remain, the readers are welcome to convey their opinions.
